Moonchild

Misty issue number one appeared on 4th February 1978 and included a free gift of a ‘Free Lucky Charm Bracelet’. Stories in the first issue were The Cult of the Cat, The Sentinels, Paint it Black, Moodstone, Nightmare Roots, Moonchild and Red knee-White Terror!

Misty was a girl’s horror comic which seems to have been launched to compete with DC Thomson’s Spellbound which had unfortunately been merged into Debbie just weeks before Misty’s launch. Misty ran for 101 issues before being merged with Tammy comic.

The last issue of Misty comic contained a special message for its readers.

My heart is heavy for today we come to a parting of the ways. I must return to the misty lands where I shall spend much of my time helping to quell the dark forces of evil which are rising there. But I could not leave you, my Misty readers, without your spine-chilling tales, so I have arranged with my friend, The Mystery Storyteller, in Tammy to pass on my tales to you. I shall appear in Tammy myself from time, and I will be there to greet you next week. You may read more about all this on page eleven. Meanwhile, the call comes from the mists and I must be gone, but do not be sad…We Shall Meet Again Next Week!
