6 Million Dollar Gran
Within weeks of DC Thomson launching Plug, a spinoff fron The Beano, IPC created their own spinoff. Originally in the pages of Krazy comic, Cheeky started life as a member of the Krazy gang before being given his own comic.
Cheeky Weekly hit the shelves 22nd October 1977 with a free gift of a ‘Red Jet Rattler’. It introduced a number of new characters including ‘6 Million Dollar Gran’ and ‘Mustapha Million’. ‘6 Million Dollar Gran’ was a humorous take on the popular 1970s television series ‘The Six Million Dollar Man’.
Cheeky Weekly finally came to an end after 117 issues, in the issue dated 2nd February 1980. The front cover hinted at a secret which you could only find out about if you read the comic. The secret was that it was to join with Whoopee! the following week.
