Pat’s Tyrolean Pen-Friend

Although best known as Girls’ Crystal, it started life as just The Crystal. In fact, the publication not only underwent a number of name changes in its 17 years’ run but it also changed from  a story paper to a comic on the 21st March 1953. The last issue of the story paper was issue number 908 and the comic version continued as issue number 909.

Last Issue

Exciting News Inside! was the announcement on the front cover of the last issue. The news was that Girls’ Crystal had come to an end as it was to become junior partner to School Friend the following week. With the merger of June and School Friend on 30th January 1965, the Girls’ Crystal name disappeared forever.
