From the same publishers that brought you Desperate Dan and Denis the Menace, DC Thomson brought us Bananaman. Eric Wimp AKA Bananaman made his first appearance on the back page of the first issue of  Nutty comic. Other stories in the first issue of Nutty were Big ‘n’ Bud, Pearl Potter, Mitey Joe, Scoopy, Stevie Star, Peter Pest, Pig Tales, Wacky, The Wild Rovers, Dick Turban, Doddlebug, General Jumbo, The School Belles, Samuel Creeps, The Bar-O Boys and  Ethel Red.
