Not to be confused with the similarly named comic ‘Striker 3D’, Striker issue number one appeared on 10th January 1970, which incidentally is the date of the first issue of ‘Scorcher’ comic. The first issue included a free gift of a ‘Dial – A – Striker Rosette’. Stories and features in the first issue were ‘The Soccer World of Colin Bell’, ‘The Professional’, ‘George Best – Colour Photo’, ‘Veteran City’, ‘Inswingers’, ‘The Iron Men’, ‘A Face in the Crowd’, ‘Leeds United Colour Team Photo’ and ‘The Green Arena’.
Similar in format and layout, Striker magazine was similar to its rival ‘Shoot’ magazine. Striker was incorporated into ‘Inside Football’ 4th March 1972.
