Sister paper to ‘The Boy’s Own Paper (BOP)’ which launched the previous year. ‘The Girl’s Own Paper (GOP)’ initially featured music, poetry and the exploits and adventures of the British missionary, explorer, writer and nurse, Kate Marsden.

Timeline:

October 1929 – ‘The Girl’s Own Paper (GOP)’ merges with ‘Woman’s Magazine’ to become ‘The Girl’s Own Paper and Woman’s Magazine’.

1930 – ‘Woman’s Magazine’ becomes a separate publication.

1947 – The magazine becomes ‘The Girl’s Own Paper and Heiress’.

1947 – 1951 – The magazine becomes ‘Heiress incorporating the Girl’s Own Paper’.

1956 – The publication ceases to exist and the title ‘The Girl’s Own Paper’ disappears from the shelves.
