Greyfriars School is synonymous with the name Charles Hamilton who was better known as  Frank Richards. 

The cast of Greyfriars School included Harry Wharton, Bob Cherry, Frank Nugent, Hurree Singh and Johnny Bull. Not forgetting the inimitable William George Bunter, bettwer known as the Billy Bunter, “Fat Owl of the Remove”.

With 411 issues published between 1925 and 1940, The Schoolboys’ Own Library, reprinted stories originally featured in the The Magnet and The Gem.

The Schoolboys’ Own Library was published two or three times per month with around 64 pages for the first 166 issues and 96 pages for the remainder of its run.

Despite being pocket-sized, The Schoolboys’ Own Library came to an end in 1940 due to paper shortages as a result of the outbreak of World War 2.
