Along with many other comics and story papers of the period, ‘The Thriller’ came to an end in 1940 due to paper shortages at the outbreak of the Second World War. It ran for 589 issues, some 11 years. Its authors, reads as who’s who of the literary world including the likes of Edgar Wallace, Leslie Charteris, W.E. Johns, and John Creasey. The first issue saw a story by Edgar Wallace, entitled, ‘Red Aces.’
