Boy’s Cinema, as its name suggested, was a boys’ comic centred around the Hollywood and British stars of the silver screen. Boy’s Cinema included articles and stories about the film stars of the day. For the eagle-eyed amongst you, at some point during its run, the possessive apostrophe went from the plural to singular. This transition took place somewhere between issue number 359 dated 30th October 1926 and issue number 361 dated 13th November 1926. The word ‘Weekly’ was also dropped from the title between issue number 532, 22nd February 1930 and issue number 534, 8th March 1930.

During its twenty year run, the publication merged with ‘Boys’ Broadcast’, ‘Screen Stories’ and the second series of ‘Modern Boy’. The outbreak of the second world war caused paper rationing which lead to the ultimate demise of the publication after 1063 issues.
